Thieving

Thieving targets

Tutorial

This Skill is dangerous and can deal damage to you.

Start Thieving

Steal from NPCs, Stalls, Locked Chests and Heists to obtain various rewards.

Thieving Success Chance

Your chance to successfully steal depends on your Stealth compared to the target's Perception.

Failed Attempts & Taking Damage

Failing to steal causes you to take damage and become stunned. Dying may result in losing an equipped item.

Equip Food from Cooking to automatically heal when your Health is low.

Fortune

Increasing your Fortune boosts the quantity of item rewards received from Thieving.

Locked Chests

Use Lockpicks to open Locked Chests, or find their Keys to greatly reduce the Lockpick requirement.

Heists

Complete multi-step Heists to earn rewards at each successful step, with rare rewards available upon completion.

Tooltips

Lifesteal

All damage dealt grants healing equal to Damage dealt * Lifesteal %.

Eating and auto eat

Eating

  1. Eating by hand heals Healing and uses one food unless Food preservation chance keeps it. It does nothing at full hitpoints, and in combat it restarts your attack turn.
  2. Auto eat checks after each loss of hitpoints that leaves you alive, and eats when hitpoints are at or below round(Auto eat threshold × max hitpoints).
  3. It eats max(1, floor((Auto eat limit × max hitpoints − hitpoints) ÷ Auto eat healing)) food at once, at most what you hold, and heals that many × Auto eat healing. One Food preservation chance roll keeps or spends the whole batch.
  4. A food's own bonuses apply while it is selected and you hold at least one.

Game messages

Automatically consumes food when your Health falls to threshold (hitpoints HP) or lower.

The tooltip of the auto eat mark on your health bar, with your current threshold.

Mastery Guild points

Guild points

  1. Each completed task adds its category's base points to its skill's guild; a task that stops being complete takes them back.
  2. A skill's total points are the base points of every task it lists. A rank is reached at ceil(total × the rank's point percent) points.

Prayer XP

Prayer XP

  1. While any prayer is active, each of your hits that deals damage pays XP from Base experience, with that hit's damage and the summed base cost of the active prayers.

How Thieving works

  • XP is paid only when the last stage completes, and a failed attempt keeps your stage.

Pickpocketing

  1. Each attempt takes Interval and succeeds with Success chance.
  2. A failure deals between 1 and the target's damage, uniformly, unless Damage Avoidance Chance avoids it, and stuns for Stun interval unless Stun Avoidance Chance avoids it. The stage is kept.
  3. A success rolls Currency loot chance for Currency reward, Common loot chance for one common drop and Rare loot chance for one rare drop. A drop's quantity is floor(q × (1 + Fortune ÷ 100)), doubled with Output Doubling Chance.
  4. With Same area pickpocket chance, every other unlocked target of the same type in the area is also rolled at its own success chance and pays the same way.
  5. A success advances the stage by 1, or by 2 with Stage Skip Chance. Past Max stages, one completion drop and XP are paid and the stage returns to 1; stages before that pay no XP.
