The Engraved Riches

Following the clues from the pirate captain’s journal, you finally find the ancient ruins in the northern isles. You meticulously scour through the crumbled stones until you find a small metal lockbox. It is adorned with elaborate engravings on each side but is absent of any keyhole. You attempt to open the box, but it stays fast. After tinkering with it for several hours, you discover the engravings are actually a secret mechanism to open the box. Peering inside, you find it filled with gleaming shards and gold coins.
