  1. A handful of people you haven't seen before walk past, likely another group of refugees from one of the nearby villages that fared even worse than Azamire, attacked around the same time. The town's new mayor - the son of the previous mayor that was lost in the attack - welcomes them and directs them towards one of the newly repaired buildings that they were using to shelter people before more buildings could be made to house them. Once he wraps up, he sets his eyes on you and Companion Name.

  2. Hapren

Hey there, you two. I hope that things have been as good as they can be, considering...

  3. Companion

    Everything?

  4. Hapren

Exactly... There's no easy way to put such a tragedy, huh?

  5. You

There really isn't. You inherited quite the mess, didn't you?

  6. Hapren

Don't suppose either of you would be willing to take over, would you?

  7. Companion

Afraid not. Never had the decorum to fit into a role like that.

  8. Hapren

Didn't figure. Well, would you two mind helping me out with a little project, then?

  9. You

What do you have in mind, exactly?

  10. Hapren brings the two of you over to the center of town, which has been piled with debris from Azamire's cleanup efforts. He talks about how he'd love to throw a little gathering for the town, just so folks can get to know one another and feel a bit of normalcy despite how hard the last while has been. A few people try their best to break down the rubble into movable chunks, but progress is slow, and Hapren asks for help before starting to work on the pile himself.

Step 2

Objective
Nothing too flashy, just gotta pull up enough fish to show them how it's done.
When complete
Huh, there really is a lot of junk in the water. Wonder where it's coming from?

Dialogue
  1. With you and Companion Name's help, you manage to break up the debris in short order, and Hapren directs much of the salvageable materials to be stored for reconstruction efforts, and the wood that is too mangled to be used to be left in the square to be used for the bonfire. Just as you set your tools down, a few tired looking folks make their way into the center of town, fishing gear in hand.

  2. Isher Famn

If I couldn't see them swimming around, I'd swear the stock of fish had run dry.

  3. Isher Famn

Feels like we're pullin' more junk out of the water than fish.

  4. Hapren

    Rough day?

  5. Isher Famn

You could say that. I see that the town square is just about ready, but I'm sorry... It'll take us a week to have enough fish at this rate.

  6. Companion

Wait, you're using Mackerel Bait, right? Only way I've managed to pull anything out of there.

  7. Isher Famn

...No. Honestly, don't think I've ever used much more than a worm, really.

  8. You

Well, you don't need it, but it sure doesn't hurt.

  9. Hapren

Since we're just about done here... While we get things set up, would you mind lending them a hand?

  10. Companion Name looks to you and searches your face, trying to gauge your reaction. You shrug, and then offer to help. Getting together a bit of bait to help the fishers out, then showing them how to work with the river shouldn't take too long, and it'd be nice for the town to be able to keep itself fed.

Step 3

Objective
There's no helping it, then!
When complete
Maybe Hapren would appreciate the meat?

Dialogue
  1. You all spend awhile on the pebble bank, sitting and waiting for a fish to bite, as one typically does while fishing. You and Companion Name talk to the fishermen for a while and learn that they used to be able to pull out enough fish to feed half the town, even without the bait. When you dump bait in the water, and start using some on your hooks, things pick up, but it's still rather slow. You watch even more junk float by. Bits of tree branches, huge clumps of soil, and then, a dead Golbin. The fishers point out that it's been like this for a few days, minus the Golbins at least.

  2. Companion

Something must be going on up river, this is just odd.

  3. You

You all can keep fishing. Try not to reel in... anything green.

  4. Companion

You're going to go check it out, aren't you?

  5. You

Of course we are. You're coming too, obviously. Unless you want to see me floating by, next?

  6. Companion

I haven't shown them how I usually tie my hooks yet, I really-

  7. They stop their protesting as you grab their shoulder and pull them behind you. You know from all your time together they'd never really let you go by yourself, but as they grumble behind you, it's clear they're not pleased about running off to find... whatever is, up river. After a few minute jaunt upstream, you see it. A massive boar standing over a group of dead Golbins. It pulls against ropes that had been tied to trees along the river, and then thrown over the top of the beast. As you approach it catches sight of you both, assumes and breaks the last of its restrains as it charges towards you!

Dialogue
  1. With the help of some villagers and their carts, you manage to bring back the Golbin's pet taming project. Hapren is shocked, then pleased, as he realizes that this is a far better catch than a few fish from the river. As the sun sets, the wooden debris from the square is burnt and thick slabs of boar are grilled and given out to everyone in attendance. More and more curious folks poke their heads into the square and are met with warmth and light conversation. A few folks even start up with light songs as the night progresses and Azamire's paltry stores of booze are enjoyed by those who indulge. Azamire's attack is far from forgotten, but this quiet moment amongst the survivors does well to begin healing the towns aching wounds.
