Volatile Fire Rune25
Dialogue
Gloob - who is now allowed to freely roam the town after your scouting mission proved his loyalty - fetches you and brings you to Jass's newly constructed 'barracks'. In reality, it was just an enclosed room with some storage for gear and a few targets set up, but it was coming along nicely. Within her office, a map of the surrounding lands was laid out, recently purchased from one of the infrequent caravans that just started to come by once again.
JassAh, Player Name, you're here. We're planning our path to the fortress, but our scouts ran into a bit of a snag.
YouOh? Is everyone alright?
GloobNo one is hurt. But a bit of the Old Northern Road that passes through the Foggy Canyon has been buried under a rock slide.
YouThen it seems we should just find another path, no?
JassThat'd be great, but this is the only feasible way to bring wagons up to the fortress. We'll need them to carry gear, and... wounded, after the battle.
GloobDon't fret though! I know how to clear it! I just need a bit of help from you.
YouJust... you and me, clearing a rockslide? How well can you swing a pick?
GloobNo no, I have something far better.
Gloob gives you the rundown on an idea he's tried before. With a bit of effort, careful chiselling, and sulfur, fire runes could be made into shaped bombs could carefully carve a path through the rockslide. Not only that, he's actually already prepped some runes they traded for, but needs help with the chiselling and then... putting a bit more volatile fire energy into them.

Dialogue
You carefully bring the volatile runes down to the Foggy Canyon along with Gloob and set to work tucking them into the rock. Gloob lights them as you move away, and sure enough, they work exceedingly well. Gloob stands triumphantly as bits of rock pelt the two of you after the series of explosions.
GloobAnd that is why reading is cool!
YouWait, what does this have to do with reading?
GloobI got the idea for these bombs after reading about a wizard that was banished from her family for blowing up half her estate. Tough luck, right?
YouWow, do you think it was on purpose?
GloobNo clue! But it got me thinking about what happens when magic goes wrong, you know?
YouI should... be a little more careful with fire spells in the future.
GloobIt's always good to practice caution! Shall we get back to bombing the crap out of this canyon now?
YouOf course! It actually seems that some of the rocks are already moving out of the way in fear, should be a bit less to handle.
YouWait.
YouWhy are the rocks moving?
As the question leaves your lips, several golems rise from the piles of rock, doubtlessly less than pleased with your explosive intrusion on their turf. They seem quite keen on smashing you into the ground so they can return to their nap.
Step 3
- Objective
- Maybe I should ask someone in the mines..? Nah, what's the worst that could happen?

- I think that should hold!

Dialogue
The golems now lay crushed at your feet. Gloob held his own well, using his speed to distract them and a few carefully placed bombs to take out a few of his own. As the two of you catch your breath, one of the walls of the canyon cracks and Gloob jumps back and wraps himself around your leg in fear. A massive sheet of stone falls to the ground in front of you. After the dust settles, Gloob removes himself from your leg and clears his throat while dusting himself off.
GloobWell, uh... That's certainly not great.
YouShouldn't be hard to break up and move, but if the canyon walls keep collapsing, we'll hardly have a road left here at all.
YouOr... Even worse, it could come down while people are travelling through.
GloobThen we've got to support the walls, yeah? I... haven't read much on building stuff like that, yet.
YouCompanion Name and I have actually helped out in Azamire's mines a few times through the years.
YouWe'll need some rock bolts, which we can make out of steel, then we drive them into the walls.
You walk Gloob through finding good spots for the bolts, and leave him to mark spots in the canyon that'll work well. Then you start to work out how to create strong enough rock bolts to keep the canyon walls from collapsing in on themselves.

Dialogue
The sides of the Foggy Canyon hold once you and Gloob finish up hammering the bolts into its walls. Even as you finish up blowing up the last of the rock that remains along the old Northern Road, your handiwork holds, and after you've finished your work, you no longer fear having a sheet of stone land on your head. You look down to the little Golbin by your hand who beams with pride at a job well done, ecstatic to have been able to put his mind to something and see something tangible come out. The two of you head back to Azamire to report a job well done, and that the Northern Road is clear to use once again.
