  1. The moon was completely hidden by clouds on the night you found yourself outside of the Ringleader's fortress, yet again. The scouting trips had gotten more frequent, though you only had time to go on a few of them lately. But Jass hadn't brought you out for a scouting mission, this time. The two of you wait for a patrol to pass and she brings you to the covered end of a tunnel. You two climb in and follow it for a while, until hitting what must be the wooden wall of the fortress. Gloob is crouched down here, inspecting the wall, not needing any light to see it clearly.

  2. Jass

Not sure how far down the wall goes, but we can't just dig down further.

  3. Jass

If it goes all the way down to stone, I wouldn't even know how start trying to get through the stone. I'm no rockhound.

  4. You

And forget about keeping it quiet. I know your people have been at this for a while, right? I'm sure moving all this soil is tough.

  5. Jass

You'd bet. We've got to carry it all out and then sprinkle it through the woods. If a patrol came across a random pile of dirt, that'd be... suspicious.

  6. You

Makes sense. So, you need to get through this wall. Any ideas?

  7. Jass

Well, Gloob says he can get a tool to get through it... Right Gloob?

  8. Gloob

Yeah, I'm... know to locate some stuff, from time to time.

  9. Gloob

I made a lot of contacts when I was traveling about. We'd have to trade for it.

  10. You

    What would you... contacts, want?

  11. Gloob

Well, they typically deal in silver bars. I think it'd usually be about seven or eight bars, but this tool is special item.

  12. Gloob

    Let's say ten bars even.

  13. You

    Ten it is.

  14. You ask what the tool even is, and Gloob starts to describe a magical length of metal fashioned after a knife that, when activated, starts to vibrate rapidly. It should be enough to quietly carve away at the wall, albeit slowly. You leave Gloob to his inspection of the wall, and head off to get some silver.

  1. You hand off the bars to Gloob back in Azamire, and not long after, he shows up on your doorstep, carrying a sheet wrapped around the vibrating knife he described. He happily hands it over.

  2. Gloob

Thankfully, it shouldn't take you too long to get through with this.

  3. Gloob

Just kinda... press it into the wood and it'll activate. I've marked the hole you need to cut in red paint, okay?

  4. You

Thank you, Gloob. This is really helpful. I know it might feel a bit odd helping us humans out, but I just wanted to let you know that we appreciate your help.

  5. You

I hope that folks aren't giving you too much trouble around town, are they?

  6. Gloob

Not at all, actually. Maybe a couple weird looks here and there, sure, but they've been more than welcoming.

  7. Gloob

Even your mayor! Sounds like he's going to try and get me set up with a workshop of sorts!

  8. Gloob

Oh and I'm really starting to grow on Jass, and Companion Name is having me do a few things around, and also...

  9. Gloob starts to run through... more of his social life than you bargained for, and around the twenty minute mark you cough and mention that you really ought to get going to the fortress. Completely oblivious, he wishes you luck, and you set off. Back down at the end of the tunnel, sure enough, Gloob has marked a large cutout for you to follow.

Dialogue
  1. You're able to cut through the wall after a fair bit of effort, and finally, the chunk of wood settles. You set the tool down beside you and decide to leave it there, in case anyone needs to improve upon your work. Once you're done, you carefully leave the tunnel and cover the entrance once again, before reporting back to Jass. She sends for a few people to go continue with the rest of the tunnel and assures you that it'll be ready for when you need to get the prisoners out.
