The Melvor Idle 2 demo launched on Steam on October 19. Its announcement says demo saves will be usable in Early Access, so starting in the demo is intended to let you continue the same character later.
What is in the demo?
The announcement describes a skill-level cap of 60 and the first act of the story. Woodcutting and Fletching are among the demo's skills. Their requirements and recipes belong to Melvor Idle 2; they are separate from the original Melvor Idle's progression.
What does save carry-over mean?
The announced direction is demo to Early Access. It is a plan for the later release, not a claim that an Alpha save can be loaded back into the demo. A save from the original Melvor Idle is also a different game's character.
The demo FAQ describes Steam Cloud backup and optional Melvor Cloud backup when signed in. Keep a separate copy of the game save before changing clients. A backup and a promise of future compatibility do not establish a recovery or reverse-conversion procedure.
When does the demo end?
The announcement says the demo will remain available for a few weeks after Steam Next Fest. As of the October 20 FAQ, the exact removal date and Early Access launch date have not been announced; the stated Early Access target is 2026.
The FAQ also says the Demo and Early Access are English-only, with translations planned nearer the full release. It does not give a confirmed translation-language list.
